I chose to base my conceptual image on a favorite song of mine, River of Dreams, by Billy Joel. It’s a fun song and it’s takes few words to create in your mind what this would look like. It took a bit for me to figure out what exactly a river of dreams would be made out of, but ultimately I decided to use the Milky Way.
Photographing the stars is a lot of fun and looking up and seeing the night sky in such a wonderful way gets your imagination going and so I decided that is what these dreams were going to be made of. I warped my image of the Milky Way as much as I could to match the bend of the river, but in the end dodged the middle of the star path so that it would be more visible.
